  • 3 New Compositions by Joseph Hasper
  • On September 6, 2012, three of my recent compositions will be performed! The concert is at 6pm on September 6, 2012, at the Catlett Music Center on the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman, Oklahoma. Admission is free. Dream Trajectories is an organ solo I composed for my colleague Dr. Joseph Henry, and he played its first performance at the University of Minnesota School of Music in April, 2011. Since then I have revised the piece, and I'm very happy that Dr. Henry will perform it ...

  • Symphony No. 1 Update
  • I'm happy to say that my initial sketches are now complete for the symphony! Now, with the melodies and harmonies set, the proportions balanced and tempi decided, I can begin work on the orchestration. My Symphony No. 1 has four movements: Allegro, Andante, Marziale, and Con Brio. My goal is to complete a first draft of the orchestrations by the end of September - about one movement per week, then another week to edit and revise.

  • Symphony No. 1 - A Work In Progress
  • Work continues on my Symphony No. 1; I'm a tad behind the schedule I wanted to keep, but I like the shape the music is taking. I originally arranged this tune for combo in 2002, and it's gotten a lot of milage since then from a lot of bands. Bon chance, Benoît!

  • Stage 1 Theater Plays Orchestral Arrangements
  • I've been contracted for a couple orchestral arrangements to be performed before "Aida," opening on July 13 at Stage 1 Theater in Newark, CA.  I worked with Ken Nadler, music director for the show, and a couple similar projects a few years ago and they came out great. Looking forward to another fantastic show!

  • North Dakota Plays Jazz!
  • Fargo North HS Jazz Ensemble (Fargo, ND), under the direction of John Syverson, has signed on to perform 2 of my new jazz ensemble compositions this fall. Stay tuned for performance dates and details. John's band has previously performed several of my orchestrations for jazz ensemble, including some heavy hitters like "Some Skunk Funk" and "La Fiesta". This is a mean ensemble!
