A Vocal Spring

Pleased and relieved to have finished a trio of vocal tunes this spring:

When Icicles Hang By The Wall (SATB with piano). I began work on this piece five years ago, and finally got all the "wish I would have done that" parts in good shape. Text based on a poem by William Shakespeare.

Twenty-Four Hallelujahs (SATB with piano). The entire text: Hallelujah.

If I Can Stop One Heart (SATB with piano). With text from Emily Dickinson from the poem of the same name.

For the first time I was able to do MIDI mockups with real syllables, which is a joy after years of being limited to "oohs" and "ahs". The program to make that happen is finicky, exacting, and tedious, but very, very intriguing. Looking forward to making even better, more faithful mockups of vocal tunes in the near future.

Meanwhile, with these choral tunes done and in the catalog I'm working on revisions to an orchestral march I began in 2012. The revised 2015 version, I think, is one I can finally live with. Once a few more tweaks are done, I believe I can put this one to rest.
